It was 1871 when a baby boy was born in a tepee village on the Dakota grasslands. Hi s parents were Sioux and they named him Sitting B ull. Sitting Bull grew up to be a respected leader of   his people. He did not take pan in the fighting at the 1876 Battle of the Little Big Horn. But after the battle he defended the actions of his people: “(…)We were camped there awaiting the will of the Great Spirit. praying to the Great Spirit to save us from the hands of our enemies. Methodology in Language Learning: The Ehrman & Leaver Construct

The complex pattern study has an elaborate underlying theoretical construct and has undergone extensive field-testing and validation at the Foreign Service Institute. Therefore it represents a serious attempt to reconceptualize cognitive styles in the service of language learning and warrants a closer inspection. The E&L Construct, as Ehrman and Leaver have named their new system, is similar to Riding’s theory in that it reorganizes a number of established style dimensions under a new, comprehensive, and parsimonious construct. However, unlike Riding’s taxonomy, here only one superordinate style dimension is provided, with the two poles labeled ectasis and synopsis. The main difference between the two extremes is that an ectenic learner wants or needs conscious control over the learning process, whereas a synoptic learner leaves more to preconscious or unconscious processing.  The complete system is made up of 10 subdimensions, and many of those are similar to the ones target...

Toxicology is a vast subject, most of it concerned with the nature, occurrence, symptomatology, biochemistry, mode of action and treatment of a wide range of poisonous substances. Many forensic medicine textbooks, especially those from Asia, devote a major part of their text to all these aspects of hundreds of toxic substances, many of which are seldom - if ever - encountered by a pathologist in most parts of the world. As the autopsy appearances of most poisons are non-specific, it seems fruitless to offer a repetitive catalogue, and therefore the descriptions selected here refer to some of those that either have specific features or are encountered more often. This chapter describes the autopsy appearances in a range of poisons that can broadly be classed as 'corrosive', even if this is not necessarily their main lethal mode of action.
