# 5 Japan; Meiji Era 1868-1912

Obraz
The political and social changes make each of the Japanese periods very uniqiue and one of its kind. What has to be underlined; the change of its name has never been accidental or random, in contrary, it is always associated with changes, in this case it was no difference. The role of dayimo has not changed, they still were responsible for administrating their land, the role of the samurai has also been more or less the same, however, it was about to be changed. They who stayed under the surveliance of their master had peasants to govern and supervise the land farming and crops gathering. The system was organised and ordered. Yet, it was a time for having some reforms, it came in 1868 with the Charter Oath, which said or rather promised: to discuss the matters of state by means of assembly, a unity of all classes to establish equal economy and welfare, the overall equallity of the nation and their individual desires, aspirations, basic customs for everyone, and principles o...

The feudal Japan is Japan of an aristocracy. This social class has dominated the law, the society and all the orders. The changes went through militarism and strict obedience. They enforced the political and economical changes. Those changes were unwillingly accepted by most of the society, yet, were unavoidable. The law was magistrated by the Imperial Court. The taxes were put on every goods, available. The Equal Fields distribution was strictly monitored. It embraced only one generation and the fraud was punished. The country was undergoing never-ending civil wars, the Buddhist temples were pronounced as ''sacrid places'', the places of protection and escape from persecution. The land reclamation was very expensive, almost impossible to gain, especially, when the land was lost. It made a huge influx of other citizens, mostly from China, they did not predominated the scheme of Japan, they, on the other hand brought the religion, something, Japanese people heard of yet never practiced before. The Shinto in Japan was not just a notion it was a symbol, an onset of religion people worshipped. At that time Japan had no significant markers of religion, they worshipped nature, symbols of nature and their habitats. The beliefs were created around the magical stories, the fo...

#13 Sperm Whales

Obraz
The sperm whales are often found stranded on shore. The reason why they push themselves onto the beach is still unknow, the presumptions var y , most possibly, it is an illness, perhaps, some kind of a disease, which directs them to the land, where they are marooned and die. This case was not any other than that, five beached sperm whales had died overnight on the shore of the Island of Texel. The whales were very dangrously close to the shore, the ditsnce was trecherous and became a lethal trap for the mammals. As scientists foresaw it was almost impossible to get them back onto the open ocean. Some of them which had been turned back, spinned aroung and returned onto the very shallow water, the shore itself. The reason of such behaviour is still a puzzle to be solved. ''We wish it could last longer'' – one of the authorities said, however, the Netherlands do have a protocol, which gives 12 hours to rescue the mammals, if it doesn't happen they are sedated or wit...

# 1 Japan; Prehistory and Geography

Obraz
So far I have been writing about the immerse Japanese literature, which is indeed wonderful, fruitful, extremely metaphorical and above all, didactic. With all respect for that, the time has come to present the Japan from its roots, some of them, by means of historical periods has been already presented by me, not thoroughly though. Without a cloud of doubt Japan is a unique place, one of the leading Asian nations, very dynamic and hermetic. Despite its politeness, friendliness, openness toward other cultures, it is still closed, once I met someone, who have been living in Japan for nearly twenty years, and, still, replied, ''(…) I am a foreigner in my own country (...)'' Japan is rich in natural goods, however, the country import some of them from abroad, which is not so expensive, for instance 85% of energy is imported, it is nothing, but, outsourcing. Japanese are very traditional, the heritage of theirs is culture, is what their ancestors left behind. They cultiv...
